I'm preparing myself to upgrade from my 55gal to a 120 on June 11th. I've got the build thread here:
http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=70730">http://www.atlantareefclub.org/forums/showthread.php?t=70730</a>

so I just ordered some Salinity to use during the switch to prevent any potential tank crash. I read online the dosing that that is recommended on the product label (5ml per 10gal day 1 and then 5ml per 20gal for days 2-7).

It seems that the dosage is designed for a new tank setup and not the swapping of an established tank to a new tank. Just wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this, and if a SEACHEM rep could comment that would be great too...

I did. Dose it just like a new tank for atleast the first week or so. It will just help give you piece of mind knowing that the extra bacteria is there to consume any ammonia spike that may or could arise.

treat your upgrade as a water change. it says after that statement that you do 5ml=1cap per 20gal. you already have the bacteria established no need to waste it. and all LFS carry it. don't for get to check/buffer your ph in the new water.

I didn't do this when I upgraded from my 35 to my 125 but it was highly recommended by lots of people I trust. Why did I not do it???? Because I am brain dead and forgot all about it when the time came. :-( I was fortunate not to have any issues related to cycling but if I ever do it again I figure it is cheap insurance.

i sometimes forget to add it when i do the weekly WC (2x in 2 months) but for the most part its cheaper to do than to not do.

I spent the $13 and ordered it off amazon with free shipping... Can't beat the price...

I agree it is the cheapest insurance out there for my livestock, considering the cost is about the price of 1 dead polyp

Just did it on my new tank swap and it worked out great, no spikes.
