Anyone who can drill tanks?

I bought a new 90g Perfecto RR tank from Aquarium Showcase last weekend and would like to go ahead and drill the back for a closed loop system, since people have suggested it is much better than using powerheads for circulation, and they regret not doing it in the beginning. That being said, I don't have the knowledge or tools needed to drill glass, is there anyone here that can do it for me? I'd hate to break a brand new $400 tank.

Maybe the guys at Aquarium Showcase can drill it for me? Any clue? $$$ ?

Bring it to marietta, I will drill it for $5 per hole. <--- covers the cost of the bits. I have 1/2" 3/4" 1" and 1 1/2" - if you wanna do it let me know. I just ordered new bits.

I'm so worried! What are the chances of the glass cracking/breaking all together around the drilled holes?

Also, where can I find information on where to drill the holes, how many, etc for a closed loop system on a 90g?

take a look at these. In there , there is a link to "justonemoretank" on RC he has a good thread on drilling glass. For a closed loop on a 90 I would go with 2 ea 1" drains and 4 ea 1/2" returns.

its easy to drill thick glass on a 90 gallon. just takes alot of time. il do it for you for $5 a hole but i only got 3/4 inch bits

Like thekid said, the thicker the glass, the less chance of breaking it while drilling it. The hardest tanks to drill are 10 and 20 gallon tanks. You should be careful, however, to avoid putting too many holes in your tank as it will weaken it...

There is a lot of truth to that statement. I drilled my 210 for a CLS and scraped it for Tunze 6100s. I love them.
