Apex and Vortech

here's my Apex config for 2 pumps along with my personal satisfaction of not having to push buttons on the drivers whenever I want to change something :)

If Time 12:00 to 20:00 Then Nutrient
If Time 20:00 to 08:00 Then Night
If FeedA 000 Then Slow20
If FeedD 000 Then OFF

#Vortech2

If FeedA 000 Then Slow20
If FeedD 000 Then OFF

Well, personal preference and the "nerd quotient" is something I *DO* understand! If that floats your boat, more power to you. I just could see how we could say it benefitted our tanks functionally. Fair enough.

I highly recommend.

What is it that makes you like/recommend it? I'm curious because I'm setting up my system with APEX and Vortech's. I wasn't really considering the WMX. I got the VDM for my AI's. That allows total manipulation of blue % vs white % in the lights. I think that's very important and useful but what does the WMX bring to the table other than integration?
I ask out of pure curiosity, not cynically.

Haha... well if you ask jmaney... it brings nothing to the table (hahaha... not trying to start anything jmaney)

Anyways, in addition to a certain amount of nerd quotient, I like the ability to not only monitor my vortechs (admittedly a WEAK reason for having the WXM), I personally like being able to control when my vortechs are in certain modes. I like setting up a configuration to run several profiles during the day (similar to what Misu has done).

In addition it, if I remember right, will automatically update your drivers. All in all, I got a killer deal on it that made it a no brainer.

Integration is a LOT to bring to the table.

My biggest reason for wanting the WXM honestly, was because I kill all returns and use the 'feed mode' on my Vortech when I feed the fish. I wanted to do everything in one button push instead of digging under the tank to get to the Vortech controller and kick it on.

$125 was a pretty high admission price for this feature, but I enjoy it.

Plus someone can make the argument that the LED manipulation is about as useful as the Vortech control :)

Only someone who has no experience with LED's would make that argument. MH you can order whatever spectrum suits your taste. 10k, 14k, 21k, etc. Controlling LED's gives you total freedom to pick your spectrum. Without it, most LED fixtures are too white. Even the AI Super Blues need more % tuned to blue than white.
