no.. the AI's run on a separate module all together different, the VDM module with an Apex to AI cable (plugs directly into the AI module and into the 9 pin connection on the APEX shown below)Crewdawg1981;644224 wrote: Well.. the Lite would be fin considering you already have the AI controller. However, if you wanted to sell that... you'd need the variable port on the big boy apex... right?
This module can be used on either Apex or Apex Lite
he could always just use the Vortech Controller for these, but if he ever wanted to run multiple modes, given time of day.. then he'd need the WXM module like you suggestCrewdawg1981;644224 wrote: You'll need the WXM to control the Vortech no matter which one you get
he could use a tunze osmolator (widely known as an incredibly stable platform) which wouldn't require a separate controller..Crewdawg1981;644224 wrote: you'll need the I/O Breakout Box to do the ATO switches (unless you make your own I/O box)
It DOES look like an Apex Light will work for you (or, if you're planning on using the controller for AIs and Vortech's, you could possibly even get away with the new Apex Jr. (4 controllable outlets for about $160, fully integral with the Apex & Apex Light systems) **the Apex Jr. will not accept a serial connection for a breakout box, if you plan on using it for your ATO**
Of course you would need separate (unswitched/uncontrolled) outlets available for the AI and Vortech controllers, for your heater in the sump, and that would leave you 4 controllable outlets for:
Mag 7 return pump (you could easily set this to an uncontrolled, always on outlet also)
Elos NS1000 skimmer with a ehiem 1260 pump (you could easily set this to an uncontrolled, always on outlet also)
ATO dual float ATO (you could easily set this to an uncontrolled, always on outlet also provided you have a stand alone ATO)
In the near future:
BRS dosing pumps (this is really the only thing you listed that should be used with a controller, but http://reefbuilders.com/2011/05/04/aquahouse-dosing-pump/#more-33683">there are other options where this is concerned also</a>)
it really comes down to:
*do you want a controller because you think you're gonna need one?
*do you want to spend less than $180 for an APEX JR when they come out (could include an extra EB4 or EB8 if you need more outlets)
*do you just want to spend $450 and probably take care of everything you'll ever need (APEX LITE)
*would you rather go "full monti" APEX and never require another controller (even if you end up adding 3 more tanks to your system volume)
:)
