ARC and Tapatalk

No one that could make it work wanted to do anything about it because they personally didn't like it. I complained about it already, didn't do any good.

I don't use it but there was also talk of it collecting and selling info.
"But I recently found out that the company who makes the app (Tapatalk) has started to store user information from forums and have begun to sell advertising based upon this information. "

So does Google and everyone else, it doesn't bother me.

I think that the burden of user identity information is on the user of tapatalk. If a user wishes to sacrifice some tracking info, so be it. Most of us have Alexa/Google/cell phones, etc. They're all collecting data. Smart devices are collecting data. That's just the nature of the world we live in. The browser/device you're using to read this post is collecting data. *shrug* So long as it isn't negatively impacting the forum/website, then I don't see a reason NOT to have it as an option.

I used to use Tapatalk, a lot. Since it went down, I just opened a browser window on my phone. Searched for the ARC website. Save the link as an icon on my phone desktop. Log into ARC, the regular way. Then access forums just like I’m on my laptop.

You can then minimize or even close the window. As long as you do not log out, you will automatically be connected any time you double click the ARC icon on your desktop.

I've done the same, one thing I've noticed though is that I don't get the notifications as frequently as I would with Tapatalk.

I've noticed the Push Notifications are near instantaneous on any desktop I'm using if I've enabled it. Don't know why it doesn't seem to be working on mobile at all. I've checked the settings on my account and in the admin panel, all look correct. I'll need to do some digging into it. @FutureInterest maybe check with the hosting devs and see what they think.

Before I finished typing this I thought to check the permissions on my phone. Chrome notifications were blocked. I just enabled it and I'll report back what I find.

I get notifications within seconds on my phone through Chrome.

I'm now getting the push notifications on my phone as well. I don't know how notifications work with apple but I'm sure there's a setting somewhere.

Push notifications do not work on Apple products. It’s a technical limitation.
