i bought a melanarus wrasse today and it is no where to be found. it was at first though. after i finished acclimating the fish i put it in the tank and he was doing good and now he is lost. i checked the ground to see if he jumped anywhere and nope. i checked the overflow and nope. even moved some rock and nothing. anyone have some ideas where this david blain fish is? the weirdest thing is that this fish is one very active fish mostly.

Yes they bury themselves in the sand. Give him time, he'll show up. It's normal for the to hide, even for a few days.

I have 2. One in my display and 1 in my frag tank. The one in the display is huge and is out all day then sleeps in the sand at night. The one in the frag tank is never out during the day and sleeps in a little tubberware container of sand I put in there for him. Once a month I run my fingers through the sand to make sure he's good, he pops out and swims around. Both have been in my tanks for many months. I guess the amount you see them depends on the individual fish and tankmates.

Mine is out all the time, BUT when he was introduced into the DT all was well until the first fish checked him out... then he dove into the sand and didn't come out for two days.

ok good i know that he is doing normal things then. i was going crazy looking for him
