ATO topoff container question

i recently got a JBJ ATO system for my little 30 gallon tank...the cabinet isnt that big and there are two shelves..id like to place the ATO resevoir on one shelf but this limits the size that i can put there to something like 7.5 gallons which is fine....i was looking at the small tupperware-like containers they sell at target to store cloths and stuff under the bed...would this type of plastic be ok to hold water for an ATO...does anyone know if plastic will leak bad things into the water or if itd be ok?

Get one of the small containers to hold food. If plastic is "foodsafe" then it's "reefsafe". You should be able to find something similar to what you are talking about in the kitchen aisle.

I use a 7gal blue container I found in the camping section. Works great

I use a 2.5 gallon bucket that used to hold icing. Works like a charm, I just couldn't believe that a 29 would evap close to 1.5 gallons a day....

good ideas..yeah the hqi came with the glass top but i couldnt imagine that top not trapping heat so i made a mesh one for it...evaporates between and 1.4 and 1/2 gallon a day with the HQI
