Never seen that unit before, but it seems pretty neat... about the cost of other ATOs and it has a tidy little reservior. I wouldn't use the float valve as an ATO, because if (when) it malfunctions there is nothing to stop it from overfilling, flooding the room and/or "freshwatering" the tank.

If the ATO malfunctions the worst it can do is add 4g of fresh.

Mine too with the weather like it is... but you won't risk crashing anything other than a Nano with that amount.

Doesn't seem like a good deal to me. Buy an ATO that uses a float valve to activate a pump. You really need a lager reservoir than that 4 gallon container. I evaporate more than that every day in my system. Look here:

I'll cast my usual vote for the Tunze Osmolator, but it is one of the pricier ATOs on the market:

I didn't read deep into that one... does it not use a float?

4g may be plenty depending on the OP's tank size/ambient temp/lighting.

Bruce, Dave is giving you good advice. I will show you that set up for autotopoff.com. I have it working on two tanks and with a timer as fail safe it has never let me down. That couple with a foof safe brute container or something similar will make it work fo you.
