Well my I pumped 20 gallons of freshwater to my system.Thank god I had a 100 gallon rubbermaid sump..The float was from auto top off . com ..I thought my main pump shut down.. It filled the sump to the rim .I put a fan over the sump and let it go for as week its almost down to the regular level now..

What do you think caused the failure? Did you have a back-up float switch slightly above the first? Did you protect the wires going into the float switch with additional tubing and silicone?

Just looking for the root-cause so I can avoid a similar situation.

I have my reef keeper set so that it will only allow it to pump so much, still worries me so I only have a 10 gallon tank for my ro water

I use a 5 gallon container that is gravity fed to a float switch. It has never failed, but not a big deal if it does.

Be interested in seeing if he had the cut-off switch as well or just a one switch system. I would not run a one switch system.
