Saw this on Melev's Reef:

And have seen other food holders that hold food until it is saturated enough to fall into the water column. I am wanting something that I can use with my Neptune AFS, so that food does not immediately go into the overflow.

Anyone using these things and have some first hand knowledge of what works best?

Ive seen them at LFS's for like $5

Pretty much any floating ring you can find will work as long as you can secure it to remain below the feeder.

I have the Super Feeder with flake dispenser. You can buy the flake dispenser separately... $6.95

Use Neptunes AFS food. I don't seem to have a big problem with it going into the overflow. Most sinks fairly quickly, the other stuff is somewhat suspended with little remaining. Otherwise there is cheap rings to use. Just keep in mind that anything that stay in the surface agitating the water will cause a nasty film to emerge around where the food falls.

That's actually a pretty good food. Fed it almost exclusively on my 90 and both fish and coral love it. Reminds me to add it back into rotation...

How do you like your autofeeder? I am looking to get one and connect it to my Reef Angel.

I do like it.... have had it over a year. It's big. I have it sitting with on side on the cross bar and the other supported on the mesh cover. It's controlled with an Apex. I like the big hopper too. I have it feeding a small amount three times a day, then supplement with manual feedings of frozen food.
