Well, this morning did not start so well. When I went down to check on the tanks this morning i noticed that the 210 was a little bit cloudy but I figured that the gobies were stirring things up in the sand. I looked in to the backroom and freaked out. My 40G which is attached to the system was completely clouded over, I could barely see in to it. I immediately shut it off from the rest of the system and started trying to figure out what the heck happened. It did not take long, there were chunks of my GBTA in the vortech. This anemone has not moved in over a year, so why it started moving arond the tank last night is a mystery. I drained as much water as possible from the tank and refilled from the sump. Unfortunately, I lost three of my fish, a Copperband Butterfly, Six-Line and Flagfin Angel. My pair of clowns and pair of Bangaii Cardinals survived the ordeal. I added carbon to the sump and reconnected the tank to the system. As of now, every thing looks ok now and I am hoping I will have no more losses. The moral of this story is to keep the foam covers on the power heads even when you think your anemones are not going to move. I covered up all the pumps in my 210 and the rest of my tanks as soon as I got down cleaning up this mess. This is the part of the hobby that I hate. My own laziness cost the lives of a beautiful anemone and three beautiful fish. bummer.
Hopefully some one out there can learn from my errors.

A starfish got into my mp10 last night also and locked the wet side down. It did not kill the starfish. But did kill the mp10.

Man, I am so sorry to hear this. I'm just glad you caught it before the nastiness went through the rest of the system.

Sorry to hear about your loss Bob!

Hopefully, someone will now take preventative action as a result of reading this thread and save themselves this same agony, aggrevation and loss.

Came real close to removing the foam covers off of my power heads today while cleaning the tank. My two nems have stayed put for a month. I thought that was a long time and I would be safe. NOW I know better. While I am sorry for your loss I am glad I read this.

Hate to hear Bob, I had a friend this happened to a few weeks back. Only fish that survived were his clowns, and one chromis.

thanks guys... so far all the rest of my fish are doing ok. Thankfully this did not happen while i was out of town or the results would have been horrific. I was surprised at how quickly the fish died. I had checked the tanks at night before going to bed and less than 8 hours later they were gone. No idea when the nem got in to the powerhead but it must have been shortly after I went to bed. I've had nems get caught in a PH before but last time it only caught a few tentacles and I was able to get them out. This one was completely chopped up and gone in what seemed like no time at all. I forgot about my dragonet until Bud mentioned it and I thought he was gone too. Luckliy he made it through the fiasco.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I have a large rockflower anem that has never moved in a year also..put the fear of moving anems in me. Is there a cage to put over the power heads. I am currently running 4? Bubba

Was the powerhead within reach of a tangible surface which the GBTA used to crawl on towards the powerhead? My powerhead is at least 6 to 8 inches away from the edge of any live rock. Will that still pose a risk?

Glad to hear the dragonet made it as well but losing what youi did is still heartbreaking.

When they start moving a lot of times they will crawl around on the glass.

no. the PH was attached to the side wall. The nem had to actually move from the base rock on the OTHER side of the tank, across the live rock and up the side glass of the tank to make it to the PH. of course it's only a 40G so the distance was not that great.
