I am buildind a sump and have a tank that is 12 1/4 inches wide outside to outside with 1/4" glass on each side to give me a net inside width of 11 3/4". my question is how wide to I need to cut the baffles to get a good seal on either side of the baffle? I was thinking cut them 11 1/2" to give me 1/8" gap on each side but would rather ask first.may be I need 1/4" on each side? please help before i cut this glass.

That should work, my sump is 10"W and I cut down my baffles to 9 1/2"W and fits in pretty good. Just outline where your baffles will go with paint tape, so when the silicone excess comes out the sides it lands on the tape. It will give you a cleaner look.

My base is 10"W and the sides are going on top of it, others do it outside the base. Just measure the outside and take off 1/2" and whatever number gives you your baffles should be.
