Beginner LED Question

I bought the http://www.marinedepot.com/18_24_Inch_Marineland_Reef_LED_Light_Fixture_Flexible_Mount_LED_Light_Fixtures_for_Aquariums-Marineland-AS33000-FILTFILDFX-AS33000-vi.html">Marineland Reef LED fixture</a> for my 11.4g because it was the smallest fixture I could find at MarineDepot.com. I love it. Makes the T5s on my 5.5g look like they're almost not even on by comparison.

My problem is with the 3 blue lights on it. The light from them shines in a sharp beam like a spotlight and it discolors the LR in three very noticeable columns. You can kind of see what I mean in this picture:

Notice how the LR on the far left, the very middle, and far right is very blue? It's even more pronounced in real life.

Is there anything I can do about this, or is it just the way it is?

Not familiar with the fixture, but if you raise it up from the tank, the light will spread which will help with the spot lighting. Also, if there are lenses on the LEDs, removing them will also reduce the spot lighting, but you will lose some PAR.

Looks like enough other people had the same complaints that they're fixing it in the next version:

If the light has optics, you could remove them and that may help.

I have the same fixture the leds have lenses on them that direct the light in a 45 degree angle i think.. if you can raise the light up it helps ..
i see you cant really. try popping the lens off..

I'm not sure this is the same fixture. My lights shoot straight down like spotlights, and there don't seem to be any lenses that can be adjusted or removed.

is it the marine land reef leds? not sure it they come off or not ? ive never tried

the only things that happen fast in this hobby are bad

Yep, that looks like it. Mine is the 18" version.
