Best additive for cycling tanks?

Bio Spira works great and is convenient since it can usually be found locally. If you can get your hands on some Fritz Turbo Start 900 it has been found by some hobbyists to be the fastest cycling. This thread is really long but there's some valuable information

+1 on the Fritzzyne products.
I’ve had #9 cycle a 125 gallon aquarium with sump in 5-6 days, using ammonium chloride.

Getting live rock can help speed up the process, as well as bio media from established systems. I jump started my Eshopps Deskmate with a sponge and live rock from my Waterbox 25 peninsula. Put test corals in the next day and everything was fine. I’m about to be filling my DIY frag tank and will be doing the same thing. I have lots of rock and old sponge I’m going to be jump starting with, that have been in my tanks for 3 weeks to a few months now.

I used some live rock I had cycling for about a year in the basement but heater wasn't working so not sure if the good bacteria died or not.. plus I'm getting my water from a guy whose giving me his water from water changes.. his tank has been up for about 20 years and is pretty much self sufficient

Getting someone’s waste water from a water change? Why?

He's aquarium is extremely matured.. I will get some bad stuff with some good stuff in the water.. I believe it will help cycle my aquarium..

I'm in the process of upgrading my Red Sea 300 to Fiji Cube 142(ext). Plan is to use new live sand, established rock, and as much old tank water as possible.
