Finally getting an Apex lite in a couple weeks (before they go extinct) and wanted to see what PH Probes everyone has had success with. Please share your experiences, Thanks!

I got the Neptune lab grade for Christmas. So far so good. I'm sure the generic ones are all the same quality but I went with a lab grade because it's suppose to last longer.

Thanks! I was looking at that one, BRS lab grade and Pinpoint

I have a Neptune lab grade for my Ca reactor and a standard BRS probe for the tank. After 2 years, they both read the exact same when put in the same water.

Seth, how often do you calibrate yours? I saw told every month, not sure how accurate that is.

I bet they are all made by the same manufacturer... I was curious about compatibility issues

I wouldn't over think the probe. You'll have plenty of time for over thinking when you start programming the Apex.

lol good call, thanks Seth. I am sure I will be asking for help with the setup, going to add the wireless adapter (no internet connection by my tank)

I've got a wireless adapter I used for mine before I hardwired it. I can look for it this weekend. Just shoot me a reminder Saturday evening.

Sounds good

This. I tried those and they were AWFUL.

I use Neptune probes; it's just easier to buy their probe for their controller. Previously, I used to use pinpoint and milwaukee. The former being the better quality probe. I've never used brs probes.

I change probes annually. They likely last longer, but it's just not worth it for how inexpensive they are. The probes start to drift and you'll have difficulty calibrating them (or they'll cal incorrectly).

In my case it dropped from the normal of 7.9 to 4.6 or something. By the time I got calibration fluid it was 2.91 and when I did try to calibrate it there was no difference in the 2 fluids. It continued to read 2.91. I logged a support call with Neptune and they had me test the BNC connector on the PM1 with a paper clip and got the expected response.

My understanding is the pinpoint has a lifetime warranty. I'm hesitant to send it in until I buy another one to confirm that it is indeed the probe.

Two years from a pH probe. Man, I wish I could do that. I think the most I have ever gotten is 1.5 years, but I have always used either BRS or Digital Aquatics Brands, neither being lab grade.

I can always tell when I need to change them out, because they start reading in obvious error or don't hold a calibration very well. When I remember to, I change them out yearly like Raj said. I usually time that and halide bulb changeout purchases to Christmas sales.
