hey guys i was wondering what would be the best return pump for a 210 gal reef ready tank it has two over flows and i was thinking on adding a scwd its seems like the 210 i have for sale is not going to sale so i might setting it up withen the next 2 weeks if no one buys it i have a mag 9 but was wondering what will give me a better return i am going to add some power heads for flow in the tank if not ill probably add a cl havent made up my mind yet thanks to all responces in advance:yes:

Whats wrong with the Mag 9? You dont need much flow from your return. How much flow can your overflows handle? I wouldnt spend more $$$ if you allready have a pump.

It would give you around 3-4x turnover which isnt too bad for a sump return. You will get all your flow from powerheads or your closed loop. What will your overflow's on the tank handle? Probably not more then 1200gph.
Iwaki 70 would be around $350 new, kind of expensive for a sump return pump dont you think? And you dont need a pump that is pressure rated if your sump is going to be right under the tank.
If you feel like spending some money buy an quiet one 5000

I use a mag 24 for my return pump in my 210 and never had any issues with it.

What size overflows do you have? Did you have to use a ball valve to slow the return down?

I have a single custom overflow on one end of the tank. There is no ball valve that I know of. My single overflow is about 14 inches wide by 6 inches wide. Not sure too much more about it, I know I use it partially for flow and only need one powerhead on this end of the tank as opposed to a tunze and two powerheads on the other end for great water movement.

I use a mag 18 on a all glass 210 (with standard overflows). I split the return to three lines- one to each overflow locline return, and one to a sea swirl. After all the plumbing and travel, the drain does not need to be adjusted or altered at all.
