That's a tight spot, your best bet might be the RO Classic 150 or Regal SSS Skimmers.

its going to have to be something in this configuration...

and what about RO skimmers? I remember I had one of the old Octopus 150 skimmers and absolutely hated it. it was loud... finicky and all round poor.... have they managed to fix some of the issues the old models had?

They're no BK or Vertex when it comes to noise, but that might be about all your going to be able to find for that small of a footprint (at least for internal). I have a Vertex Omega 150 and a RO 110 Classic Space Saver. I will try and do a comparison tonight.

If you can bump the size of the footprint up a bit, you might be able to fit a Vertex Omega 180i.

I've heard good things about the Aquamaxx Cone CO-1 and the JNS Cone (same as the Aquamaxx). Very compact but you have to run in 9" of water or so.

what about the new DC pumps that some of the RO has..?
quieter? cooler?

I'm picking up my sump friday... its a trigger sys emerald 26... the published space is 8.25x10

I have the SRO 3000int sss. It's a beast and you can add up to 4 neck extensions for added dwell time. It's worth every penny I spent on it and then some.

Sorry I didn't realize it was larger than your sump space. However, you can go with the external version.

perhaps this...

I would just confirm that the footprint includes the outlet pipe.

Those RODC pumps are pretty nice from what I hear, had one before I switched it out for the Vertex V6 during my build. A few members here use the pump for a return pump, but I have not heard how well they perform in regards to skimmer pumps.

Gacolt has this skimmer for 350. I'd be all over it if I didn't have one already
