Best way to adjust corals from 150w-250w

Ill be moving to a 250w Lumenbright fixture with icecap ballast and 22k giesmann bulb this week. what is the best way to transition the coral to it. Currently im running my 150w 12" from water from 10am-9pm without problem.

Wasnt sure how the 1 hour on 1 hour off scenario works out

If it is height adjustable then start it really high, if not cut down the photo period

What about putting 1-2 layers of eggcrate on it to diffuse the light a bit.

When I switched from the fixture you bought from me, I put 4-5 layers on screen on top of my mesh top. I reduced the photoperiod slightly, but not much. I waited a few days, removed one layer, waited a few more days to make sure that the corals didn't bleach, burn, and so on until there was no screen left. Worked for me and I didn't see any negative changes to the health of the coral.
