I have these wonderful orange and gold Yuma Recordias (at least that's what I was told they are..if anybody knows different, please tell me). They are more orange in person than the pic and have a neon green mouth. When you look on the underside, they have gold veins especially under actinics. They are awesome and I've only seen them one other time.

At any rate, they are multiplying! They've doubled or tripled in the past 8 months. They're huge when fully expanded...probably around 3" disk diameter. I love them but would like to propagate them to other rocks especially when I set up a bigger tank (soon).

My question is this...what is the best way to remove them so that I can attach them to other rocks?

Use a razor blade and cut it at the base. Where you cut it at the base, it will sprout a new head in a few weeks. If you want to force a split, you can nick the foot and it will stress it out enough to force a split. This is how I frag and multiply them.

I always try and curl up the sides of the mushroom and chip a small piece of the rock under the mushroom that it is attached to. It makes it a lot easier to glue back the next time.

Yep. Until you've tried to glue one of these things to a rock, you can't really fully appreciate that advice :) It's a HUGE help to be able to glue the piece they're already attached to.

LOL. What he said. Been there done that and bought the T-Shirt.

Agreed with the gluing, but I have a container with crushed coral in it that I place the shrooms in for them to attach.
