I am trying to catch a Midas Blenny because I am going in a different direction livestock wise.

I am using the 2 liter bottle method, but this fish is just to smart. I have caught every fish and shrimp I own twice over, but the blenny has zero interest. I have over 6 hours into trying to get this fish...:yuk:

Any ideas besides tearing the whole tank down (which I am highly considering...)?

My midas blenny has always found a crevace that I couldn't get him out of when he was scared.. typically, I have had very good results just pulling out the rock that he's hiding in.. (he'll try to stay hidden if he's scared, even if you pull the rock out of the water)

I'm lucky though, he's got a relatively small rock with a hole in it that he stays in most of the time, so I just plug the hole with my finger and remove the rock..

Yeah, he likes a 30 LB monster rock with many huge holes and caves in it. I think I'll have to tear the whole tank down to get him. That really sucks!

A bit of a side step of the thread....but have you found a new home for him? I think I saw your posting when you were wanting to sale him, but now I can't find it.

the problem is that these fish can literally swim into a piece of 1/2" pvc pipe head first and have enough room to turn around and stick their head back out of the hole...

makes it tough for them to be kept by typical fish traps..

Yeah, this guy is just too smart. He goes near the trap, and just swims the other way while all my other fish just swim in!

I found a home for him. I am just trying to get him out of the tank so I can quarintine him untill I am ready to move him.
