bio pellets

Folks:

I've been reading about bio pellets and just saw a picture of a tank using bio pellets; it was really amazing. Is anyone using these? How are they working for you? What have you learned?

i used it for about 3 weeks , had to take it off because half of my corals were dying . i still have a bag of pellets if somebody want to try it out . i heard good things about it but did not work for my system

Thanks for the helpful post Paul. What kind of reactor were you using to contain the pellets?

i was using a phosban reactor that was modified to bio reactor . bought it from another member and he was using it before he broke his tank down .

Do you think the reactor had anything to with the problem?

yes , it did . after taking it off , all of my corals coming back to life , unfortunately a lot of them did not make it . i used the 2 little fishes pellets , some peopele got great result with them but not me still can't figure it out

How fast did you introduce the pellets to your system Paul? From what I've read, your suppose to start out with about a 1/4 of the recommended dose and then slowly add more then the reactor as time goes by.

i started out 30 % of the recommened dose and never got a chance to add more

they've been running on my system for about 6 weeks.. so far.. so good..

but again, a lot of this is referenced in the other thread..

from experience you have to be REALLY careful about adding a new bio filter to an established tank.... seems to be MUCH safer to start it on a new one.

Cool...I was going to modify a little fishies reactor. How was yours modified? How do I go about getting that bag from you?
