Biocube or corner tank

First, I'm trying to get into the hobby on a very slim budget. And I looking at a couple of used tanks on Craigslist - one a Biocube and one a 54 gallon corner tank. The biocube comes with everything and the corner tank only comes with the stand and a wet/dry system (no pump). Any thoughts? I'm hoping to have just a few fish and maybe some corals until I figure out whether this is for me or not. Thanks. Lene

What size Biocube? What kind of lighting does it come with? How old is/are the bulb(s)?

Is the 54 corner "reef ready"? (that will be a piece of round plastic in the corner with grates in it, and a pair of holes in the bottom in the plastic covered corner).

What kind of fish and corals do you like? Check out http://www.liveaquaria.com">www.liveaquaria.com</a> or some local stores to see what you fancy.

The Biocube will be the cheapest way to get into it, as you will need to source a light, pump, and more of the other stuff (rock/sand/powerheads) for the 54.

Unfortunately, this hobby is not really for the "slim budget". It is a luxury hobby. Now you can find deals and save money and cut corners in certain areas every once in a while, but the tank and lighting are definitely not areas to cut corners on.

+1, I was just looking at that post a few minutes ago, don't know why I didn't think about it. That tank would be sufficient to allow one to determine if this is something they want to continue with, or if they don't, it's not a huge loss either.

I can let you have a 60 cube with stand, hood and sump for $300 if that will help your budget.
The tank needs cleaning bad lol but it is a great price
here is a link to a few pics of it.

Thanks a bunch for your questions and suggestions! I'm actually going to follow your advice and hopefully tomorrow I'm going to pick up the used Biocube with hqi for the reasons you stated. I think this is a pretty good way for me to figure out whether I want to get in deeper. Thanks again! L
