Hey guys i just bought a 29 Bc. I need help. I need to know what to do in each chamber.. I do have the tank fully running right now with my 10 gallon Critters. My 10 gallon cracked and i was forced to buy a new tank.


Questions


1. I currently only have one 36w bulb. all blue. Ill get a 10k tomorrow.

Will this support my corals?

I have Zoas,Gsp,Kenya tree, 2 Chalice,2 Nems, Candy canes.

2. How do i mod the chambers?

3 where should i put the heater? I have it in the Back chamber for now.



Just a few for now. If anyone is willing to come over and help me i can supply some beer and pizza.

I don't think ur nem will grow a whole lot. And the back chamber near the overflow has a place for a heater. And what do u mean mod?

Not sure about the chalice, but everything else should be good.
As for bulbs you might check out hellolights.com they have the bulbs buy 2 get one free and they are 5 bucks each!

First Chamber is where you want your skimmer to go. You will have to knock out the partition inside of chamber one to fit it one of the nano skimmers in there though (unless you use the actual biocube skimmer). Chamber two take everything out. I put filter floss, Purigen, and Phosban in that chamber as well as my heater. I current don't have anything in chamber 3 but I will end up putting my pump for my media reactor and then change chamber 2 into a fuge. PC stuff is getting really cheap right now i know nanotuners is getting rid of there stuff as well so if you wanted to upgrade it and add a third PC in the hood you could do so for a good price.

Oh I can pull up the thread but there is a whole thread about RBTAs and GBTAs living just fine in PC's, I'd just make sure to place it at the top.

Saweet Db thanks. I do have the BC skimmer. I have my 150w MH over the tnak now but im letting a friend use that light. Heres how mine is right now.

1st chamber has BC skimmer. Which sucks. lol
2 I gutted all the BBs out and have nothin but the two racks.
3 has my Return and Heater

Oh u should mod it with paronama LEDs u will be able to do sps if u do

Im gonna do a DIY LED build once i get everything settled. They are all pissed off right now. Spent 10 hours in a bucket lol

Should work fine. The biggest thing that I hate the most about the back compartments on the BC's is that there is not enough baffles from chamber 2 to 3 so without a ATO or topping off every single day chamber 2 will evaporate water as well.

I can tell you though you will be spoiled after having a BC I don't think I will ever have a tank that is not a AIO in some way. Having those back compartments is so nice and makes everything look so much more clean.

This. I have an intank media rack with filter floss, Purigen, and Chemipure in chamber 2. I'll probably add the fuge basket too at some point. 1st chamber is empty right now. Skimmer soon. Chamber 3 has my heater and return pump. My BC runs a little warm so I'll probably down grade the return pump to a MJ900. Less heat and I'll eventually get an MP10. I will also be going the DIY LED route.

250w Heater in chamber 1 with Return pump. its a mj900 i think.
i am barebottom right now i plan to get some black sand tomorrow.

a tunze 9002 skimmer will fit in the second chamber of a 29g bc and works extremely well. it just needs stable water levels, so an ATO would def help

the only thing ull encounter could be the stock collection cup for the tunze is round and would require u to mod the top or run open top. luckily, when i got my tunze from a fellow member here, it had a different collection cup thats shaped like a box and made to fit under the hood of a bc, i want to say it was called a stevie c or something like that. unfortunately i sold the bc and tunze on cl about a yr ago. now i have an open top bc with a sunpod on it

The collection cup for the tunze is made by InTank. Check out mediabaskets.com and they have the cup and other stuff for the biocube
