biokit is it working?

I am thinking about putting the bio kit from the Jan. meeting in the new school tank to hopefully make it cycle faster. Can it work that way and if you stop adding the viles can the bacteria reproduce and be a self sustaining colony? I got a reef bio kit at the meeting
