My water tests are fine but the bird's nest isn't. 2 weeks ago had to shut everything down to make repair in sump and left lights off for that time to kill cyno. That is the only different things that have happened. Thanks, Bubba

how long were lights off? is it the tips or the main branches that are white?

The t-5's were on as normal, the MH were off for 48 hrs.
PH - 8.6
ALK - 7.7 DKH

Edit: nITRATE - 0
AMMONIA - 0
SALINITY - 1.025
cALCIUM - 395
MAG - 1090
iODINE - 0.3
STRONT - 0.3

If you left your lights off for more then three days that could be it. PH 8.6 is high. On the red slime try manually removing it just before the lights go out and do a 20% weekly water change. Try feeding a little less and cut your light cycle to 6-7 hours. Make sure you have enough flow in the areas that has red slime. This works for me-I feed a lot and have overstocked tanks. My green birdnest loves the light. :fish: Holley

Entire branches are white. Only left MH's off for 48 hours. BUT I did move it a few weeks ago and now it is directly in the middle of the tank where it does not get direct light from the MH. How do I lower the PH. I have a tiny sample bottle of BUFF but I can not find the directions. Thanks, Bubba

Same thing happened to me in my 95 gallon. My main colony of green birds nest and the a smaller frag I had both just turned white in a matter of maybe a week, if that. I didn't even really notice it until it well on the way.

The only thing for me is that it might have been an issue is my calcium was low at the time. Somewhere around 380 as I recall. Though my monti was and is still fine so I have no idea.

What salt do you use?? Just curious.
