I have a bright red blasto that I got from a member here he had it under 2 150mh. I put it under 2 24watt t5 for a few days. Then moved it to the bottom 1/3 of my display tank which has a 250 halide. Now I just pulled it out of my display with the lowest ring of eyes half dead.

Any suggestions as to what caused this?

I have always kept it on the bottom or near the bottom with great results...it's been under 3 types of lighting as well...T-5, MH and LED.

Did it brown jelly or is it just receded skeleton you see?

It was receded tissue.

Receded is normally temporary. They are probably just going through an adjustment stage.

John I believe it's a merletti. But how do you tell the difference?

It is the big polyp type. And they kinda overlaying heads.

Sounds like a wellsi. Tuck it into some shade if you can. The Merletti likes a little more light than the wellsi

Ok I'm goning to give it a couple days under the t5 then I'll try it again.

Just a day under the t5 and the blast is already looking great! So it has to be a lighting issue.
