I picked up a bicolor this past weekend and was told it would eat the flake stuff that I feed other fish in tank along with algae etc.

I went on liveaquaria to research it a bit and it says:
"The diet of the Bicolor Blenny should include vegetable matter, including frozen and dried foods containing marine and blue-green algae. "

So here is the question
When I research blue-green algae it comes up as being Cyanobacteria, which I remember from my last tank as being red and slimey and a PITA to get rid of. Surely they are not wanting me to have that in my tank to feed this fish?

Am I reading it wrong? I just ant my fish to be happy and not starve? suggestions?

Steve

There talking about spalerna algi most herbavore foods have it in it try formula 1or2 foods mine seam to like it there also 1 of the few fish that will eat bga most are fine in a tAnk with out having to add food asking as you have alge in your tank

Spirulina flakes, spirulina-enriched brine shrimp, Formula 2 pellets or frozen, and similar preparations are good.

It will eat meaty foods too - and just about any preparation you offer, but those I just listed contain "veggies". It won't starve.

Spirulina is blue-green algae.

Thanks, thought I was going to hav to let my tank go to get some nastyness built up for him. :)

Well I guess it no longer matters. Lights came on this morning and he was nowhere to be found...Lifted a rock and he was half eaten by blue legs....Atleast I enjoyed him for 3 days...Should have just thrown some money in the water and let the blue legs it eat.
