Blue Legged HC camping dead snail or just snacking?

In my 25g tank one of my snails died and I have left it in to help with the start up cycle (good idea or bad idea?). For two days one of my blue legged HCs has just been chillin by the dead snail and has turned over the shell. This morning three of the five crabs where up there. Are they just doing thier CUC job or is this an indicator that I need new shells for these guys already?

Probably just snacking, although one will probably end up taking the shell as its home. It's not a bad idea to either get more shells or over stock on snails. That way the crabs will have plenty to pick from.
