Hey Peeps!

My name is Ryan, I have been a member for quite some time and have read more than has been healthy at times. I am not new to the aquarium hobby but will be new to the saltwater/reef hobby as of now. I have 110 gallon acrylic was restored (all wet sanding down to novis with the drill wheel, never set up for my current house..ha). I just bought a 28 jbj nano (used) for my family. The aquarium is being treated now for coralline as it was dry (vinegar plus water), everything is in working order. All media will need to be bought before this operation starts. My biggest questions are as follows: should I roll with recommended media, are there any upgrades you would suggest, anything in general I should know before the setup is complete? The setup also came with a sc aquariums 301 65G skimmer. Thoughts? Thank you ahead of time, everyone has always been more than helpful.

I say, sponges, some bio balls, matrix and carbon. That's what I run in my cubes...

It is an LED with 4 moons, any advice on light run times? LR, softies, perhaps other corals and a NEMO lol..(daughter) a blenny, gobi, some inverts. I do understand it depends on the corals in the tank, curious as to the day/night run times that have been successful for others.

For me, the upgrades I made were an intank media basket that I run floss, chemipure elite and purigen in. I'm considering switching media, but the media basket was a great upgrade.

I also recently added an mp10 to assist with flow and also a Tunze ATO with a 3.5g reservoir in the stand.

As far as lighting schedule... I can't offer advice on the stock LEDs. I found them too yellow for my liking and swapped them out.

Ok. I believe they run at 14k. Again, this doesn't have to be fancy on my end for a 28 gallon..low light to intermediate corals will be fine. We will save the huge questions for my larger tank..lol...that is if i sell the 110 and get a 250+ for our new house one day. Any little tid/bit pieces of advice are greatly appreciated. i have scoured here and r"_" for years with notes and knowledge, so work has been put in. Just happened to run across a deal on a 28 gallon tank...small tanks are not my forte for sure. Thanks in advance to any suggestions

The tank came with an sca-301 protein skimmer. Im looking at overflow boxes that will fit in one of the chambers but not having much luck. The middle media chamber will be kept in tact, just didn't know if anyone had any experience adding a way to drain to my sump without drilling the tank.
