Given the excitement of the absinth discussion I was wondering if we had any diy home brewers - I have always been a bit intrested in trying it

Sounds like fun, but I think this may need to be in the Lounge area. I think this DIY area is only for reef related stuff.

Well...I gave it a try many years ago.
Got a book, bunch a bottles, a big glass jug (like 4-5 gallons and stuff) for fermenting, some special buckets...all kinds of stuff. Got some imgredients and cooked it all up...bottled it...and it tasted like crap!

Made a second pass...same thing. Totally un-drinkable!

Best I can figure the secret is sterility. The glass container I was fermenting the beer in must not have been completely hospital sterile and ruined the beer. I immediately went to the beer store and never made a 3rd batch.

Still have all the stuff somewhere...willing trade for frags :D.

Would have been really cool...wish I could have been successfull.

Good luck to you my friend!

i'm a homebrewer, but that dosen't mean i know a whole lot. i do make some good beer and as i write this i'm listening to 6 gal of cav sav perking like a coffee pot. i know a local guy that can answer any, any questions you may have, provided they are in a legal direction.
