One of my s.o.'s tanks has been sitting fallow for about 2 months, now, after we lost everything in that tank to velvet.
(Note to self: if your QT tank has not cycled again after being sterilized, RESIST THE URGE TO BUY FISH.)
I had a look at the tank today, and it's the weirdest thing...the bristleworms have all come to the surface. I can't find anything dead in the tank that's attracting them, and only one or two of them are moving around, the rest are curled up into little pinwheels on the sand. There's a couple dozen of them.
This has never happened before. At most, we see one or two of the little buggers crawling from one rock crevice to another. What could be causing them to all come to the top of the sandbed at once like this?
Not certain about the water params, honestly we haven't been wasting testing materials on this tank since we wanted to leave it empty for a few months to ensure everything bad in it had died off.
Any ideas why they're doing this, and whether or not this is a bad sign?
