Setting up a 120 rr as some know. Never ran a reactor before. Would u go with the bfs dual reactor so i can run carbon and gfo or just a single or 2 singles?? Or another reactor other then the brs?? Any help would be cool. Thank u

I have a BRS dual and while they work they are not the best. One big drawback is no individual control over flow. What you set in one chamber is what you will get in the other. Some media needs strong flow while others need low flow. Can't do that with the dual.

I liked the idea BRS had about mixing the GFO and carbon together. That way the GFO can't clump together, so there is no need for the higher flow generally associated with it.

If you are asking me I am not sure. I got mine only because a friend was selling it for $20. Otherwise, I couldn't have afforded it at the time. I had just lost my job. LOL

BRS has a YouTube video on the subject and they tall about combining on 1. I use segel from Seachem in mine but don't really have a reference to tell you good or bad.

if I had to do it all over again, I would still go with the brs dual.

The flow I get is perfect for the media types since I added the compact eheim pump versus maxijet 1200

The GFO percolates in the first chamber

since it's wll mounted, I have it in the closet behind my tank saving space.

those new cartridges (especially the gfo without the sponges) make it soooo easy to change and clean.

are there better? sure.......

I run mine off of a header that is tied to my return line (my return pump is way oversized. I put a ball valve on the header so I can regulat flow plus there is one in the flex line feeding the dual reactor that you can use to adjust flow.

Maxi jet just doesn't have enough inertia, head or power for longterm use on these especially when GFO & carbon starts compacting.

Thanks for the help. 2 questions that seem to be a debate. What kind of media do you run in the reactor. And how often do u change it out? Thanks
