BRS Two part users

Just curious on n some feedback from that are using the two part solution from bulk reef supply. Am think of going in on the powerbuy as the price is definately right on this one. What benefits have you seen since you went to this program? Is it easy to maintain? All feedback appreciated

Its what I have used for over a year. Not sure what info your looking for but its basically just like any other two part, just cheaper.

I've been using it for almost 2 years with great success (by great success I mean it has never given me any trouble).

The only thing I will say is that I usually have to dose double what their calculator tells me to dose, in order to get my levels from "level x" to "level y."

FYI, Tim @ Keen Reef carries it in his store, if you want to buy local and avoid the shipping cost. He has the cheapest dry goods in the metro area by FAR.

I just received their 2 part kit yesterday and got it all mixed up.

My 90g requires 0.35L of alk/calc to be added each day in order to keep the levels up (SPS dominated tank), so I bought dosing pumps to automate it and spread that rather large amount out over the course of a day. I use a Litermeter III and it doses very small portions automatically like 150 times per day. It helps keep the levels stable & constant, rather than dumping all the alkalinity in at once each day and spiking my pH level. The latter is just not healthy for the tank.

Tank size is irrelevant, as your dosing volume is directly proportional to tank size. The ratio (theoretically) is the same.

Big or small tank, dosing all at once (once per day) isn't the ideal way to use 2-part.

Dustin is right, dosing pumps and adding a little many times a day is the best for alk/calc stability.


I use kalk so I hardly have to use 2 part now, but if after a water change I need to buffer back up I will use the 2 part. If I was using strictly 2 part I would use a dosing pump to keep the levels/ph as stable as possible. When you add Alk it spikes the PH so adding quite a bit at one time can be really unhealthy for stability.

EDIT: Did I add that I'm jealous of your litermeter III. That is one mighty fine dosing pump.

love the BRS 2 part, easy to mix and dosing is cake. I just manualy dose now. Satureated Kalk for my top off keeps alk and cal up for now, i evap almost 2g a day.

If the dosing pumps make you sleep better at night then use them but they are not a necessity. I dose my system manually and thats the only way I will have it.
