How do I get rid of bryopsis.

Ph 8
Nitrate undetectable (seachem)

Phosphate undectable (seachem) reads down to .01ppm

Alk 9
Calcium 440
Mag 1300.

Lights are 6/54watt all lamps are <4 months old. All ati 3 blue+, 2 blue special, 1 purple plus

<4 months old. All ati.
Change phosgard weekly
All sps has nice color, extension, and growth.

Just want to get it solved before my new tank goes up.

Seachem test kit for phosphates is notoriously inaccurate.

get an Elos low range phosphate kit.

switch to HC GFO and change weekly.

add a carbon source such as vinegar/vodka

Large weekly water changes of 30%.

If you truly have Bryopsis then in addition to all those nutrient exporting, you'll need to try one of these three methods:

1)Using only Kent's Tech M Mag, raise you mag 100 per day until you reach 1800, and maintain it there for a month. Please either find Dave's thread (acroholic) or pm him for specific instructions.

2)Take you rock out and wash with 3% H2O2 for five minutes. I have a thread on here somewhere that I can point you to.

3) pray

Gotcha
Will the 3% h2o2 hurt the coral that is encrusted on the rock

start with post 367

I treated all rock in sections removing 1/3 each week. I tried hard to avoid SPS, but some was too close to avoid. no long lasting effects, however. Zoa's had no effect at all.....I also did my overflow in week 4.

If it is truly Bryopsis, Kent Tech M will quite likely take it out. I went the route twice and both times it literally evaporated the bryopsis within a week. I never even needed to get my MG to 1800. It peaked at like 1500 and by then it was all dead.

Brought it back down slowly through water changes and had been keeping my MG up to a normal level by adding Tech M to my change water before putting it in. Now using Seachem salt my MG is fine and I haven't had to add any Tech M for +1yr.
