Reef Ocotpus bb 2000 won't quit and I have checked the valve and it is working. Took everyting out of my sump and cleaned and repaired ( gfo refractor, carbon refractorand the blaster. Just re-started everyting and the blaster is going nuts. ALSO have a new naso in the QT tank and for the last day or so it has started to look like it is gasping...never shuts it's mouth. Till yesterday it has been 100%. This gasping thing happened to my last Naso after it has been in the QT for 12 days...didn't make it the 13th. This is also the 12th day that the new Naso has been in the QT. What am I doing wrong? Note: in both cases the Naso had been sharing the QT with another fish...........both of those fish lived. Need help, I am afraid to go to bed with the BB running this way. Thanks, Bubba:jumpy::jumpy::question:

You mean the skimmer is overflowing? If so, assuming it was working correctly before, that usually means something got put in the water that affected the surface tension of the water.

Some "normal" things we put in or dose will do it, but so will foreign substances. That combined with the sick fish makes me suspicious of a toxin.

Edit: It reads like you are talking about two separate tanks... is that the case? The BB is on your display?

Sick fish is in the QT tank, but remember the two other fish that were in the QT are still alive...... Bubble Blaster is in the sump that supplies the DT. The only thing that is different is everthing is spotless clean. Previously the baffle on the filter side was broken and I replaced it with new glass. Could the Marine silicone cause the massive bubbles? Bubba

changing water daily...did not check for amonia. I think I will move him to the dt tonight . If it is an amonia problem will moving him help?

If it's an ammonia problem, yes it will help.

If it's an illness, you risk infecting your DT. Calculated risk.

As for the skimmer, I'd blame the silicone. Nothing bad will happen if you cut the skimmer off for a day or two.

Thanks everyone. I already moved the naso to the big tank. And I will shut the BB off till the morning when I will be here to keep an eye on it.
You all have been so helpful. Thanks way too much! Goodnight, Bubba:yay:
