I have been using a super reef octopus and it is only 6 months old and the pump died so I will get a new one under warranty but I have never been happy with the skimmer so Im going to buy a new one, what would you buy?

I found myself contemplating the same question a little while back. I went with an MRC Pro I for several reasons. I like to think that if I have a problem or question, all I have to do is yell across town and it can be handled.

My life has changed since going from a SRO-3000int skimmer to a Pro I. I can chum the water like I'm fishing for great whites without issue.

The tank I got from you but I might upgrade soon so I want the skimmer to be overkill

For an internal I would look at the Alpha Vertex Cone series of Skimmers built by Royal Exlcusiv (they make Bubble King). Truly a set and forget type skimmer. Low draw Red Dragon pumps. I am using an Alpha 300 on my 465 gallon. I like these more than any other brand I have owned.

+1000. Empty the collection cup, rinse weekly and clean it once every few months; that's it.

Agree with Dave. I have an alpha 200 on my 210 and love it. Completely silent also.

<p style="text-align:left">i like my sro skimmer but i like my deltec better vertex are realy good also

not sure on mrc never used one but there build quality on there products are top notch and if you have a issue there right down the road just through it through the window and drive off

Haven't had a MRC, but my bubble king has been perfect. They are phenomenal skimmers.
