I have a really dumb question. I am about finished with my cycle and have been researching fish purchases. Here is my question. I have asked LFS about warranty on fish and it is 24 hours while I read that LiveAquaria has a 14 day guarantee. It seems like ordering from LiveAquaria is the way to go. Am I wrong?

not really.....a lot of fish...i.e. tangs, fairy wrasses, gobies, and dragonettes...dont usually ship very well....so they do the 14 day on the fish from liveaquaria because it is more likely a fish may die from shipping stresses....if you get one from an LFS....that has been there a week or 2(you can usually pay in advance and they will hold on to it for you so it is eating and active)....it has a better chance of survival....

while your getting a 14 day warranty on your fish chances are much higher when shipping that you will actually have to use that warranty. assuming your lfs is reputable and went through all the proper procedures to keep a healthy fish your best bet is to buy local. imo

Not entirely true, Jorge at Pure Reef has a very nice QT section in his store as well. Ask him or Angela for a tour behind the scenes. It's almost as impressive as the front displays.

I would only purchase fish from diver's den (liveaquaria's wyswyg), Sea Atlanta, indivuals that know what they are doing and have had the fish for 6 months or more, then liveaquaria....not always in that order..

pm me for more info.

Umm I know of other stores that qt fish also. Petco does not but then again who buys from them anyways.

Thanks for the props guys!! I cant speak for other stores, but I can speak for our QT process and its legitimacy. ALL fish go through at least three weeks of true quarantine, meaning isolation, examination, and evaluation for parasites, behavioral or collection issues, and diet consumption, in a stand alone system and filtration unit. The animals are treating prophylactically for parasites and pathogens as the species necessitates, as well as any necessary medical concerns. Once the livestock passes all the standards for health, behavior, and condition, then, and only then, is it released for sale to our customers.

Feel free to come in and we can discuss it more.
