Buying fish online

There have been a lot of heated debates about this recently, but to be honest, I buy all my livestock in person, at a local fish store. That way, I can see it eating and make sure the specimen is happy and healthy.

Just my 2 cents,

Andy

I personally would recommend Live Aquaria http://www.liveaquaria.com">http://www.liveaquaria.com</a> and Salt Water Fish [IMG]http://www.saltwaterfish.com">http://www.saltwaterfish.com</a> .

Suggestions:

~ Opt for the fastest shipping you can afford.

~ Have the order delivery set up in such a way that you can unbox and acclimate as soon as possible.

~ Research your fish or coral choice(s) ahead of time and avoid those that indicate they don't do well in transport.

Agreed with above. I also had good results with PetSolutions.com. Locally I recommend Marine Fish on some fish as the discounts they give can often rival online pricing. Optimum often has a few fish at a good deal as well.

this thread is fishy...I had good experience with saltwater fish no DOA and no DAA either.

all my fish from reefermadness did great also.

one thing that might help is to have the fish shipped to your local ups hold facility, that way you know they will be there by 10am.

When I buy fish at a LFS I buy at Cap BAy. They are great and the fish are healthy!

Thanks. I liked saltwaterfish.com prices and free shipping option. A little nervous about buying online but the site seems very informative. 15 day gurantee is nice too if they truly honor it. I will let you know Friday when my order comes! I got a lot for a little $$!

Share- what did you order?

Saltwaterfish.com is the best IMO. I have ordered most of my fish from there. Shipping is not free, after the junk fees its $20 - but still worth it.

The problem with SWF is that they never have anything I ever want in stock :(. Other than that, to get the guarantee you have to mail the corpse back to them, that's a lil heinous. Could there be a worse job than being the guy whose job it is to open the "returns" and verify contents?

ok ok thought we were talking about online sites not a local lfs. you guys can yell at me for this one BUT can we be nice to the club sponsors for at least a week. the guy was asking for some guidance for online ordering. He didnt ask who sucks.

Sorry...haven't been on today. My tank has lots of rock and fish so I added some inverts. Have a few peppermint shrimp but needed a few other interests.

Go to the store for 1 thing and spend a hundred bucks!...hahaha

Blue Tang
10-Blue Leg Hermits
2-Skunk Shrimp
3-Emeralds
Bristle Star
Xenia coral

I think I am good for a bit.

myself going into lfs is like going to the store for a gallon of milk when you are hungry and walk out with 50 bucks more then intended.

you know what i do to stop me from buying with out intent is only go in with the money i want to spend and keep extra in the car but become lazy and not get it. works for me.
