Calcium Additives -- what's the difference?

I'm following everyones advice to take it slow and read -- as I read, questions arise.

Can someone state simply the difference (if any) between:
<p style="text-align:center;">B-Ionic Calcium Buffer and Calcium Hydroxide?

Do these bacically do the same thing and it's really hobbist preference?
