I spent a week in a class learning to properly use a camera a few years back. 60% of taking good pictures is knowing how to work the camera (white balance, shutter speed, aperture size, etc), 35% is the lens you use, 4% is the camera, and 1% is skill - IMO.
I often take pictures here at home that Walmart refuses to print and swears up and down were done professionally. I have a Nikon D60 with the basic lens.
