This is probably 101 for most of you out there but in case there are still a few like me that had no clue how to take a photo of their tank read on.

I set out tonight to see if Google could tell me how to take a photo of my corals without the blue washing. I know how to snap pictures but I'm no photographer. After a few searches I came across a suggestion to set the White Balance to 10k. It mentioned needing a separate camera app but I found the setting in my stock camera on my Samsung Galaxy S7. Still need to work on manual focus but after a few minutes on Google I was able to take my first tank photos that actually look like the corals in my tank.

Next search will be on how to properly size photos on ARC.

Here's one I took with Note 5 with fv-5 app

White Balance is a good thing to note of. Best thing to do when taking photos is to turn off all pumps and filters, the water movement causes a refraction that really messes with a lot of phone cameras

White balance will always depend on the setting, so depending upon your lighting preference, it may be different.

I used a DSLR and a white plate to get my white balance for taking pictures in the tank. Now the pictures look exactly like what I see.

Here is an example:

The photos you can take with the correct equipment and some experience is amazing. For me, I'm pleased with knowing how to get reasonably good photos from my smart phone.

There is a gentleman on Facebook that seems gel filters for your camera to help as well. I bought a pack a while back Abd they work great. Unfortunately, I lost most of them when I moved. I might but then again. They were only $5 with shipping. An example of the difference.
