Do green candycanes just change color? The guys on the left were originally the same as the green ones in the middle. Now they look like the purple and green ones i have! Is this normal?

Has it been relocated recently? higher? lower? from some other tank? They can change their zooanthelle dependant on lighting conditions.

Edit: Take note that a change from green to more brown like that would almost make me think it has less lighting that what it was used to, and therefore goes with a color (brown) that absorbs more.

Over a month ago i lowered both the green ones to the sandbed. I read that they grow a lot faster on the ground.

Maybe someone else could chime in on the color changing, as far as growth and inflation/healthy polyp extension goes; mine absolutely HATE being touched at all, on my sand bed that's where mine did worst. I mounted them higher up and they did good for a bit but this past week my snowflake fell up against them and they cut themselves some :(. You could always experiment with slowly raising them up in the tank. Slowly.

Quite normal for candy canes IME. Mine change multiple shades and I have the exact shades you do in the same huge colony, just on different sides of the colony. Light, flow, food, anything can affect them.

They are a pretty hardy coral though so I wouldn't sweat it. As for growth, leave them be. Wherever they are they will adapt after a few months and then literally explode. I started with 2 small heads which sat for about 6 months and then the next 6 months they exploded to +50 heads. I fragged that in half several times and now just leave it. I've got easily over 100 heads.

ya i wasnt too worried about them. ill just leave them where theyre at. i do need to mount them to this rock better so they dont keep falling in the sand. they sure dont like that
thx
