canopy

anybody know where to buy them for a good price? would be cool to buy them raw so i could paint it to the color i wanted. if not does anybody know somebody who makes them? seems to be a few do-it-yourselfers
on here.

Hands down, you need to talk to grouper_therapy (Dave) before thinking any further.
He is the "man" - but you might also check Jeff McPhail, very nice from work seen from him too.

any links to the prefab stuff? i might have to go that way. im sure these two guys do great work, but im not sure i have that kind of money.
high quality work requires big bucks. looks arent as important as function to me right now.

If Grouper or another member can't get you hooked up you might call Optimum Aquarium. (the sponsor) They do custom canopy's. I got them to do mine unfinished and finished it myself. They did an 18" tall canopy for me for a reasonable price. The standard height is around the same $ as the prefab stuff you see on the web if I remember right, and the quality is better IMO.

i would think that any of the custom guys (or members named) can put together a very basic canopy for less than $100... but if your talking about matching stands and stuff like that, you're also talking more money...

start by surfing the forums (here and ReefCentral) or taking pictures of what your looking for from a LFS...

I KNOW that someone here can get the job taken care of for you
