Is anyone running a Carlson surge device instead of powerheads or closed loop setups?

Looks kinda cool but noisy.

This is awesome.

If I were running a huge setup close to 1000g, I'd seriously consider using something like this. It looks a TON cheaper than a million power heads -- using less electricity to only power a single pump, more realistic water movement, etc.

Hopefully the powers that be won't construe this as commercial, but Warehouse Aquarium has one on their pool.

...which is noisy as heck, IMO the drains are way too high in that thing...

Its only commercial if you are talking about a non-sponsor store! :D Lets not get on another "bash the powers that be" rant ok?

My rant expressing displeasure with their actions was dealt with via PM.

I ran two mini carlson surge devices on a 58 gallon reef I had in the mid 1990s. they were cool, but toms of salt spray and tons of microbubbles- which I thought were cool at the time!

We have one on one of our coral tanks. Built from PVC, a couple of bulkheads and a salt bucket. Powered by a Mag 5 (I think).

Not practical for a home tank, but our SPS and such in the prop tank love it.
