carpet of hair algae

ok so i looked into my overflow and there is a carpet of hair alge about 2 inches in solid thickness....i need a peace of black acrylic that will cover a standard size aga over flown thank you

Are you sure? If the hair algae is only growing there and isn't causing problems, then let it stay - it'll work as an algae scrubber...

I had the same problem in my 55g's overflow. I found that if I just pulled some out by hand every month or so it never effected the drain and I never saw hair algea in my sump or tank.

I pulled a huge load from my overflows and saw it in my main tank pretty much overnight. Personally, I would pull it slowly and replace with chaeto as I pulled it.
