At least not eating the aiptasia that I want him to eat! I got him several weeks ago and he's been doing great. Eats prepared foods like a pig which I truly am happy about but he just doesn't seem to be interested in the aiptasia. It seems like he may have taken out some of the smaller ones but there is plenty left. Anyone else had a CBB that didn't eat aiptasia?

He is happy eating the prepared food. Give him more time , sometimes they will clean out other things first like small featherdusters and such.

Mine did the same. He was quite content with frozen food for about two weeks then I started seeing my aptasia disappearing. Give him some time.

Thanks guys! Don't get me wrong. I really am happy that he eats prepared foods. I've always thought it would be cool to have one of these guys but never got one because of the stories about them not eating. I didn't want to chance killing one off. I had just always heard how these guys decimate aiptasia and wondered if others had a CBB that didn't eat it. Hopefully he will catch on here soon. He really is a cool fish!

i tried two CBB over the years and lost both. I would love to find one that is doing well in an established tank too (whether it eats aptasia or not!) One of my favorite fish. Good luck with your and hopefully it starts taking care of the aptasia soon.

You know, I think you might be right with the larger aiptasia thought. He definitely did take out all of the feather dusters and I've noticed some smaller aiptasia missing, but the big stuff is still around. Maybe once he gets bigger he'll tackle the larger aiptasia also!

Thanks Bob! I hope he continues doing well. I got mine from Creation and I talked to Matt and Amanda quite a bit about where they get theirs from. They said they deal with a company that has a dedicated system for CBB fish where they overload them with prepared foods in order to try and get them to eat before they even ship them out. Mine loves mysis, brine, and cyclopeze!

I may need to check with Matt and Amanda and try one more time...

Mine ate it all big or small, including feather dusters and acans. Got him small and not eating much but eventually he started to like frozen stuff only out of my hand. Then after about a year I found him dead.

I've had a couple of CBB's and have not seen them eat the aiptasia. I have a heniochus butterfly and I was moving the rocks around and actually witnessed him eat the smaller anemones. He wouldn't touch the bigger ones and he's about 5" big.
