I think I'm ready to put some chaeto in my 20L sump, but I'm not sure how to keep it from floating over the wall into the pump chamber. How do you guys keep it contained in your sumps or is that not a worry for you? Where can I get some to get it started? Anyone in the Lawrenceville area have any they plan on harvesting anytime soon?

I've got some but I dont live near you. Cartersville is a good drive to Lawrenceville. I've got enough to fill up a coffee can you can have.

I am in Flowery Branch and have some I cane give you. I am probably 1/2 hour from you.

Bud, I am sure I can spare some for you... you are lighting your "sump" right?

Bud, Loren *anchors* his with a few pieces of LR ... works pretty well for keeping it in place. But his is on the 'fuge side, not in the sump.

Thanks to everyone that replied. I'm going to take Brandon up on his kind offer since he lives within a couple of minutes. I still need to figure out what to put it in to keep it from going over the wall in the sump.

Brandon, thanks! Let me know whenever it is convenient to come over. Yes, I am lighting the sump at night.

I've got some as well if yah need it. I brought a bag for Bob at the meeting but I was so slammed I forgot to give it to him :(.

Anyways, as for keeping your chaeto in place a pic of your sump would do wonders. Any overflow with teeth cut into the top should work just fine. Most of us don't worry too much about the occasional chaeto piece making it to the return pump since tangs love to eat the stuff when it arrives in the display.

My overflow wall is glass and does not have any teeth. I tried putting it in anyway thinking it would be heavy enough to just stay against the wall, but I'm also running a small powerhead in there as well and the chaeto immediately floated to it and started to get sucked into it. Right now I have it in the input side but it doesn't get much light there. I'm probably going to take the top off and get a clip on light to aim directly at it. Here's a picture of the sump before I put the chaeto in it and before I swapped that powerhead with a minijet 606.
