Cheato dying

My whole sump is full of cheato. It was really keeping my system in check but after a while it started dying and turning white. Now my system is getting yucky ...anyone know what to do to get it back healthy again?

If you aren't trimming it back regularly it can grow too fast and strip all of the nutrients from the water, this can cause it to die off because there is not enough food for the large clump to live off of. You need to remove all of it that isn't green, the dieing cheato is releasing all the nutrients that made it grow back in to your water column.
