I had a chromis for quite some time and was given a second one over a month ago. The original one is constantly chasing the newer one. Will this subside after a while?

I had 8,they constantly chased the smallest one until I only had 1 left.

Unfortunately that is right. Chromis are very weird fish. Once they get larger they tend to pick on the smaller of the group...and 99% of the time it end in death. It's a shame because they are a great schooling fish....they just don't like to play nice with each other.

I had eight in my 210 that I started as very small individuals. They are now 2+ years old and a pretty good size. Over the past couple of years, I have had the same experience, the smallest one of the group gradually died.

+1000 on this. Chromis seam to be like CUC and eventually have to be replaced. Keeping the school up to larger numbers does seem to distribute the aggression more through the group resulting in them living longer. This will also make them keep the aggresion to themselves and not the other fish you are keeping
