Clam died today

I woke up this morning and my clam was gone only thing left is the shell.WTF
I have class in an hour so I guess i'll check my levels and do a water change when I get back. My question is what are the best test kits available? :sad:

That's weird!! Do you have any snails that look like this:
They are predators to the clam. They might have eaten it. How long have you had the clam??

Thanks everyone. I've had the clam for about two months and I also have plenty of snails in my take so that's a possibility. Im about to a water change and figure this thing out.

"Ordinary" snails won't usually bother them. But the ones that Radha posted are parasitic and may come in on (in) the snail. The sort of eat it from the inside out - often boring up through the clam, entering from the bottom around the foot.

Do you have any angels in the tank? They will often pick at clams.

Do you monitor your calcium? Clams are calcium hogs.

Also, how large (or small) was the clam? Usually the smaller ones need to be fed with phyto, more so than the larger ones.
